US residents: does a consumer report affect a person’s credit score?

Consumer Credit Reports
awgamgee asked:

does requesting an investigative or consumer report from a credit bureau/agency affect a person’s credit score? and if so, will this request for such report be recorded on one’s credit report?

(Not a US resident so I’m not really sure how all of this works. Trying to understand a few things here and there! All help is mostly appreciated!)

Should employers consider credit reports as part of the hiring process?

Credit Reports
Art asked:

The CostCo Connection published an article discussing that taking into account credit reports is beginning to be a common practice in many regions.
I think they shouldn’t be considered. This could maybe lead to problems of identity theft and don’t see what a credit report has to do with an employment.
What do you think?

Do we have any kind of rights when a debt collector pulls our credit reports?

Credit Reports
littlemissmay asked:

I am angry because I have several hard inquires from a single debt collector in whom I gave all of my information to yet they still thought it neccessary to pull my credit several times. They saw that I finally received money to pay off my credit cards and not they find it neccessary to check it all the time.

Do I have any sort of right to remove these inquiries?

Or will all 56 of them stay on my credit report?
