Please no message boards. Only formal complaint websites like the consumer reporting agency.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to get this out to as many people as i can reach. The only way i thought i could get this out is by posting it as a question. So my apologies in advance as its not really a question.

anyways…I bought movie tickets in March through movietickets.com
and apparently while purchasing it i also signed up for some “SHOPPER DISCOUNT”. I know for sure I would remember signing up for a service as i shop online a lot and I usually google coupon codes ( i never use a service cause i know they charge you for it)

I had been noticing $12 charges being posted to my account every month. At first i disregarded it but since the last 2 months i have been keeping a very close eye on my statements. (online banking comes in very handy here)

I finally called up the number posted with this transaction. At first the customer service could not even locate any of my information. I provided my Name, Number, Zip code, email address ( as the lady on the phone was “oh it because you must have shopped online) So i gave her my mailing address as well as my email address (the email address i receive my shopping confirmation emails at) and she still could not find me in their system!

I finally get a supervisor on the phone. He asked me which day the transaction posts on my credit card statement. When I told him the it posts on the 17th / 18th of every month he said ” when you purchased movie tickets at movietickets.com you signed up for this”.

When I made it very clear that i did no such thing as i know the services i have (netflix, rhapsody etc) he said he would refund me my $12. I told him I am going to call consumer reports, my bank and movietickets and that’s when he said he will refund all the charges ($84 in total)

SO please be VERY CAREFUL while using movietickets.com.
i think its like one of those email subscription things…..but with NO CHECK BOX!!!

My husband and I have been a month to month member of GG for the past year without any late or missed payments. My husband called to stop or cancel our account because we weren’t going to be using it for the summer. The office told him that that would stop it and that once we’re ready to come back just come on in. The summer went and in Octobert my husband went to the gym ready to workout and start the account again. When he got there they told him our account was past due and that we owed about $350. This was embarrassing and upsetting. They wouldn’t budge or work with him so he left the gym upset. We have great credit and have never been delinquent on any accounts. The money wasn’t the issue but more at the bad service and overall rudeness and bad attitudes. This is a matter of principal so we decided to let it go to collections (keep in mind we have never had an adverse acct on our credit reports) I also did a lot of research on consumer complaints on GG and found a ton of complaints!
Today we got an attorny summons from GG! They are taking us to Court! We have option to settle out of court of take it to the end. What should we do? I don’t want to give in but maybe it’ll cost me a lot more in the end. And If We fight is there a chance? does anyone have or know anyone who’s won against them?

I went in for an application, and they said to come back on tuesday to do it and 2 computer tests.. as well as my first interview and to bring my ID. Does it sound like they’re hiring everyone, as long as they’re not idiots? It sounds like they plan to hire me if I have to bring my ID, right?

Should I worry if they’ll ask for a consumer background check (credit report)? My credit is horrible and I’ve been turned down for jobs because of it.

It’s a telemarketing job that works with people and their accounts.

Dude asked:

The use of consumers credit reports these days is out of control. They are using your credit report for everything you can imagine that involves money.

- Banks (just to open a savings account!!!)
- Libraries
- Employers
- Now…Doctors and Hospitals

I read this article in the paper yesterday about this man who had a good job (employer unknown) paying $220,000 a year…that’s pretty decent. Recently he financed a house and car. Then opened an American Express credit card. He had good credit…you have to, to have an AMEX card.

When his employer of 25 years ran a credit check they found the house, car, and credit card.

They let him go due to a consumer report that revealed his debt exceeds his income.

WTF!!! He was making his payments on time with money to spare. He was doing fine!!!
I recently had a problem with employment. I applied for a job at a local credit union as an administrative assistant (not even handling money…In a spearate building from money…
I was denied the job because I was late two payments on my $1,200 financed TV 8 months ago…every payment has been on time since.

Opinions on using consumer reports for everything?
