Can I hold a Credit Reporting Bureau Liable?

Consumer Credit Reports
NateDogg asked:

For making money off any information contained in a report, even if they didn’t seek my permission? It seems to me that the govenment allows the big 3 to collect info w/out permission so that banks and other financial institutions to make money without regaurd to the consumer. The laws for consumers (Fair Credit Reporting Act) appear to be a smoke screen for a hidden agenda. I say consumers should call them on it. Anyone for a class action?
I see fraud by a company making $ on false Information (sometimes) and in order to fix something in a credit report, you have to jump through hoops and, if your lucky, you won’t have to ask the big 3; 4 or 5 times to correct an issue. (Especially TransUnion.) I have spent $55.00+ on postage to dispute crap that should not be on there anyway. Conspiracy amoungst the Finance world.

  1. The credit reporting agency’s are just that reporting agency’s.

They only report information that is reported to them.

So where do you see fraud?

  2. good luck but i think you have a point i disagree with my info being shared without my premission and any false info spread around i feel those who start it or spread it should be held accuntable .

  3. Consumers have called them on it that’s why there are ways to opt out of them distributing your info. I think the website it optoutprescreen.com. Then your info won’t be accessible to creditors and you’ll stop receiving junk credit card apps and other things normally associated with this. The website also explains why they allow it and the supposed benefits of allowing creditors to do it.
