TOTALLY FREE — will not even ask for your financial details or credit card. This is the government mandated site where you can get 1 free credit report from the 3 credit reporting bureaus once a year.

They already have your financial information. All of it. What the first answerer said. Any other site is a ploy to get you to buy something.

Annual Credit Report . Com is totally free if you live in the US. I’m not sure about other countries. but if you are wary of putting your info on the net, trust me it’s already here! The only thing I would recommend you do is first get your free credit report, then enroll in a credit monitoring service like Equifax 3 in 1!
It’s not expensive and this way, you are totally in control of who looks at your info! You can be immediately notified of who is looking at your info and why.
I went through Identity theft and a bankruptcy and had to rebuild my credit. Now my score is up from 486 to 729 in a little over a year! I have credit monitoring and it’s worth the peace of mind.
Read my website too. you info may be out there, but it is up to you to protect yourself. My website is all about ID theft, bankruptcy, getting re-established with low apr credit cards, how to avoid scams and getting ripped off plus how credit scoring works! Knowledge is a good thing!

Go to FTC.gov.
You will get your reports, one free per year, but not your credit score. You have to pay for that.

If you’d like to get your free annual credit reports but don’t want to enter any information (like your social security number) over the internet, you can call them to request your report. 1-877-322-8228 – not everyone has internet access.
It will take about 15 days to receive your report in the mail. You can also request your report by mail, but it’s probably easier to call esp. since it’s a toll-free number.
The AnnualCreditReport.com site is safe and secure. It really is truly free as mandated by the government a few years back. You can get one free report each year from the three credit reporting agencies – Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
It’s good to get all 3 reports and compare them. Sometimes an error will be on one of them but not the others.

Each year you are entitled to one free credit report from each of the three credit reporting agencies from the following site:
…
You can get all three reports at the same time, or get them at different times during the year.
Note: Despite the misleading name, charges for credit reports. Don’t fall for the gimmick.
