when a company does a consumer credit report before they hire you does it matter if you have bad credit?

It could make a difference, but I doubt if it will, most people do not have spotless credit. Most employer’s are more worried about attendance at work, and employee criminal records.

Of course it makes a difference. If it didn’t make a difference they wouldn’t do it.

If you’ll be handling money, you might not get the job because they fear you might try to transfer funds into your own account.
