I was told to come back for an interview and to bring my ID, is that a good indication?

PlasticTrees asked:

I went in for an application, and they said to come back on tuesday to do it and 2 computer tests.. as well as my first interview and to bring my ID. Does it sound like they’re hiring everyone, as long as they’re not idiots? It sounds like they plan to hire me if I have to bring my ID, right?

Should I worry if they’ll ask for a consumer background check (credit report)? My credit is horrible and I’ve been turned down for jobs because of it.

It’s a telemarketing job that works with people and their accounts.

no need to worry. they wouldn’t have scheduled you for the interview if they weren’t interested in you. i don’t know if they will check your credit report or not. where i live, about the only ones who do that is gas stations. good luck

ID is required to make sure you are legally in the US. No, an interview is not a guarantee of a job.

As far as your credit rating goes, I would not be quick to give anyone my information. In all the years I worked, though none were in telemarketing, I was never asked to give a copy of my credit rating. A background check is to make sure you are not a criminal or a poor employment risk due to child support issues.

Good luck on getting the job but luckily I have a block on my number, otherwise I hang up on telemarketers.

    yes to are hired

Yes, it sounds like they plan to hire you but historically telemarketing jobs have very hire churn so they probably do hire just about anyone. It really depends on the company as to how credible they are. I do interviewing and hiring for my company so needing a photo ID is a good indication they plan to offer you a job. I wouldn’t worry about a background check. That usually means they are more of a conscious employer so they are not hiring the axe-murderer next door. :-) When dealing with financial accounts they need to make sure you’re not a huge risk but again, as a telemarketing company they’re not going to be too choosy, therefore if your credit is bad I don’t believe you would have a lot to worry about unless it is a complete disaster.

no. all companies are required by law to offer a certain minimum number of “real” jobs per year that are open to the public. to prove this, they show that they are actively interviewing and recruiting by collecting resumes and copies of id’s.

but yes, it sounds like this place is hiring everybody.

Don’t work in telemarketing, you become part of the problem…..
